Dear KDP Member,

Welcome to the very first KDP-Phi Omega Chapter blog! This blog will be routinely updated with key information on programs and events.

This year, we plan on holding two main events: 1.) Literacy Alive! and 2.) Community Service Project. Participation in both events this year will make you eligible to receive an honor cord to wear at graduation at a discounted price.

Literacy Alive! is held annually in order to help strengthen students' literacy skills while cultivating a love for reading. In the past, members have visited local elementary schools and read books to students. Afterwards, members have engaged students with an activity pertaining to the story. Information about this year's event will be posted in the next few weeks including information on signing up.

The Community Service Project was initiated last year. As members, our mission “is to sustain an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership, and service.” In order to help support advancement to reaching this goal, we fundraised for Programa Velasco, a preschool in El Salvador. Members collected donations by asking friends, family, and coworkers for their support. Information about this year's Community Service Project will be announced soon.
